AtomicMind 8th Graders: September Highlights
School is back in session! As your student starts their 8th grade year, the month of September is crucial to set the stage for the academic year to come. From solidifying study habits early to getting involved in extracurricular activities, AtomicMind has compiled a list of advice and activities to prepare your student for their final year of middle.
Preparing Your Student for Success
- Study and Support Time: Now that students have a couple weeks of school under their belt, they should be familar with their school and extracurricular schedules. The month of September is an excellent time to identify and carve out specific times to complete homework, studying, and tutoring. If students foresee needing support in particular subject areas, please reach out to AtomicMind to pair you with a Subject Specialist. Setting a foundation early is crucial for success.
- Pursue Meaningful Extracurriculars: Extracurriculars are an important part of your student's growing resume, and it is never too late to get involved! If your student has identified a specific interest or passion in a subject or activity, 8th grade is a perfect time to start pursuing that interest with intention. Our Discover+ portal is an ideal place to get started in your search.
- Set Goals: As students prepare for high school, it's important that they identify specific goals for themselves. Is there a subject they could explore more deeply? Is there a club they've been wanting to join (or start) at school? Do they want to involve themselves more in their local community? If your student would like more guidance on setting academic or personal goals, our Head Advisors specialize in matching students with activities to enrich their intellectual development (and resumes, too)!
